On behalf of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein I would like to thank you for your letters and invitation to public proceedings of the PTT planned to be held in London on 6-7 March 2017. Neither the High Commissioner nor any of our staff are able to attend the hearing for number of reasons, including very short notice.
However, this Office (OHCHR) have of course followed very closely situation in Mynamar, including in the norther part of Rakhine state. OHCHR has issued a report on the situation with human rights in Myanmar last year (attached) and recently, upon fielding an investigative mission to Bangladesh, a flash report as a result of in-depth interviews with Rohingya refugees who fled Myanmar to Bangladesh since 9 October 2016. You may wish also to consult numerous reports of the Special Rapporteur on Myanmar, all available on our website.
