It's been 14 years since the beginning of the genocide in Darfur and 8 years since the ICC's first arrest warrant was issued (March 4, 2009). Throughout the Obama presidency, genocide and mass atrocity crimes continued in Darfur and expanded to include South Kordofan and Blue Nile, while human rights abuses by the government occurred throughout Sudan, particularly in the marginalized regions. With the Trump presidency just getting under, the Sudan policy for the new Administration will get established in the next few months. So, it is particularly important to raise our voices now. Ask the new Secretary of State to make Sudan a priority and appoint a Special Envoy tasked with finally ending the genocide and human rights abuses in Sudan. 1.
