'He is a liar and he is a coward'

The Khmer Rouge regime - which ruled Cambodia between 1975-1979 - was responsible for one of the worst mass killings of the 20th century. Up to two million people died as a result of execution, disease, overwork and starvation under the direction of the country’s Marxist leader, Pol Pot. At a UN-backed tribunal last week, a former senior leader of the Khmer Rouge, Khieu Samphan, denied that Pol Pot's regime had engaged in mass murder. Nan Devi lost 38 members of her wider family to the Khmer Rouge. She says Khieu Samphan is a liar and a coward.
