Details
South Korea lacks comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation. Violence against women and LGBTQ people is widespread. The current president Yoon Suk-yeol has pledged to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which has been instrumental in supporting survivors of gender-based violence. Suppression of political criticism continues to rise.
