Details

Since 2016, Cameroon has been affected by a violent conflict between government forces and English-speaking separatist groups seeking independence from the Francophone-led government. The conflict has killed at least 6,500 people, with both sides accused of serious human rights abuses, including murder, kidnapping and attacks on civilians. Government forces have destroyed more than 200 English-speaking villages, while separatists have targeted schools, hospitals and humanitarian workers. The crisis has displaced over 583,000 people and left 1.8 million in need of humanitarian assistance. Meanwhile, Boko Haram attacks in northern Cameroon have worsened the country’s security and humanitarian situation.
