Socioeconomic inequalities persist between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peruvians and Afro-Peruvians suffer racial discrimination. The recent presidential election showed political polarization between the left and right is high. The state has failed to denounce PSRPF as genocidal or prosecute its architects for crimes of genocide.
