Details
Ireland has a number of minority groups who experience discrimination and racism. Mincéirí (Irish Travellers) have historically been discriminated against and still suffer racist abuse today, with serious consequences for their health and wellbeing. Ireland’s Roma communities report social exclusion and anti-Roma abuse while in public, often not reported due to a lack of trust in the police. Anti-immigrant sentiment has been rising in Ireland, with mob intimidation, most notably the 2023 Dublin riots, becoming increasingly commonplace. Black Irish and Asian Irish people face racist abuse and hate crimes against these groups have occurred in recent years.
