Details
Since the Spanish arrival in Panama, Indigenous people have faced multiple forced deportations, expulsions, assimilation efforts, and forced conversions to Christianity at the hands of both the Spanish and the Panamanian governments. Recently, Indigenous people have been fighting for land rights, sovereignty, and cultural preservation.
