Brazilian police have disproportionately targeted black and brown Brazilians. President Jair Bolsonaro is also seeking to restrict the rights of the LGBTQ+ community who have experienced an environment of heightened homophobia and transphobia in addition to imprisonment, murder, and discrimination as a result of Bolsonaro's rhetoric. Bolsonaro's administration has also supported the use of the Amazon Rainforest for agriculture and mining which has lead to illegal seizures of indigenous land as well as threats and attacks on indigenous peoples.
