Détails

Indigenous peoples inhabited Canada for thousands of years, but colonization efforts from European white settlers – particularly the English and French – have threatened these Native populations since the 16th century. Today, Indigenous activists and communities across Canada have called on the government for apologies, reparations, acknowledgment, and legislative change. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex people (2SLGBTQI+) are disproportionately affected by violence, discrimination, and barriers to accessing justice and support services.
