Détails
Seychelles is a small, high-income island state in the Indian Ocean with a history of one-party rule and centralized governance. Since its transition to multiparty democracy in 1993 and the peaceful transfer of power in 2020, the country has made important democratic gains. While it remains at low risk for mass atrocities and lacks significant ethnic or religious divisions, concerns persist around political polarization, corruption, media freedoms, and concentrated political power. Strengthening democratic institutions, judicial independence, and inclusive governance will be critical to maintaining stability and preventing future risks.
