AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday condemned Colombia’s opening of an embassy in Jerusalem as a violation of international law and relevant international resolutions.

Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali said that Jordan rejects the move, stressing that any measures or decisions aimed at changing the legal status or character of Jerusalem are "null and void" and have no legal effect, according to a ministry statement.

Majali reiterated that a just and comprehensive peace that ensures regional security and stability can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
